FacultyThe SF Coordinating Center Executive Group oversees all aspects of the SF Coordinating Center and is led by the Director and Associate Directors, and other senior faculty and academic
members. Most Coordinating Center staff have worked closely together for more than a decade.
Steven R. Cummings, MD, Director Dr. Cummings is Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and
Biostatistics, and Associate Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Medicine at UCSF. He is
an internationally recognized expert on the epidemiology of osteoporosis and fractures with over 20
years experience in the design and execution of multi-center observational studies and clinical
trials, and directing coordinating center activities.
Dennis Black, PhD, Associate Director
Dr. Black is Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UCSF. He is an
internationally known expert in osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment. He has over 20 years experience
in management of data and analysis of large multi-center studies. He is a biostatistician and a
principal architect of distributed data systems in clinical trials.
Deborah Grady, MD, MPH, Associate Director
Dr. Grady is Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and of Medicine at
UCSF, Vice Chair of the Department of Epidemiology, and Director of the UCSF Women’s Health Clinical
Research Center. She is an internationally recognized expert on postmenopausal hormone therapy and
women’s health, with over 10 years experience in designing and conducting clinical trials.
Michael Nevitt, PhD, MPH, Associate Director
Dr. Nevitt is Professor of Epidemiology and
Biostatistics at UCSF and a recognized expert in musculoskeletal disease epidemiology. He has over 20
years of experience in the design, conduct, and quality control and analysis aspects of multi-center
studies.
